Delete your account
You can start account deletion inside Spotter. Deleting the app from your phone is not the same as deleting your account.
Three different things. Signing out keeps your account and your friends; sign back in any time. Deleting the app keeps your account but erases the workout history stored on that phone. Deleting your account immediately and permanently deletes your account, everything social and all of your cloud backups from our servers, and also removes the workout history from your phone. Export your history first (Settings → Export in the app) if you want to keep a copy.
Delete in the app
-
Open your account.
Tap the account button (the person icon at the top right) on any tab. You need to be signed in; if you are not, sign in first with the same method you used to create the account.
-
Tap Delete Account…
It is the last item, below Sign Out.
-
Type DELETE and confirm.
The Delete Account button stays disabled until you have typed the word. This is deliberate: deletion cannot be undone.
-
Done.
Deletion runs immediately while you wait. Spotter signs you out and returns to solo tracking. If your connection drops part-way, tap Delete Account again: the process picks up where it stopped, and your sign-in is only removed once everything else is gone.
Delete by email
To delete your account in Spotter, sign in using a method already linked to that account, open Account and choose Delete Account. If you use Sign in with Apple or Google, sign in with that same provider; you do not need to send email from an Apple private-relay address. If you cannot access the app, email support@spotterlifts.com with the subject “Delete my account” and your Spotter username, if known. Your email’s sender address does not need to match the account. We will explain the verification needed before we can act. Never email your password or sign-in codes. When we acknowledge your email request, we will explain any verification needed and give you an expected completion date. We will process the request within applicable legal deadlines, notify you of any permitted extension, and confirm completion or explain any refusal.
Never include your password or a sign-in code in an email.
What is deleted
Immediately, from our servers:
- Your profile: username, display name, email address, level, invite code, privacy and notification settings.
- Your sign-in identity (the account record at our authentication provider), and the link between your Apple ID or Google account and Spotter on our side, so the same Apple ID or Google account can create a fresh account later if you wish.
- Your friends, blocks, and pending invitations, on both sides.
- Every workout you shared, including its activity card, and the cheers on it.
- Cheers and reactions you left on friends' workouts.
- Your weekly league standings and workout counts.
- Your challenges: a live challenge ends for the other person.
- Your pack memberships. If you created a pack goal, it keeps running for the other members with your name removed; a goal that only you were in is deleted. Your contribution stays in the pack's total as an anonymous number.
- Your name in friends' “trained with” records from linked workouts.
- Push-notification device registrations, so notifications stop.
- All of your cloud backups, including every stored earlier version. They are permanently deleted at once, not kept for any retention period.
- Reports you filed lose your identity. Reports that other people filed about your account are kept, without a link back to you as a user, so that abuse history is not erased by deleting and rejoining.
Your username is released with a short hold so that nobody can immediately impersonate you with it.
What is kept, and for how long
| Item | Why | Gone after |
|---|---|---|
| Database backups | Point-in-time recovery copies of our database | Up to 35 days, as backups are overwritten |
| Server operational logs | Contain your account identifier (not your name or workouts) for troubleshooting | 14 days |
| Queued notification messages | Messages already waiting to be delivered when you deleted | Up to 4 days; they are not delivered to you |
| Beta diagnostics uploads | Keyed by a random install identifier, not your account; see the Privacy Policy | Beta diagnostic records have no automatic expiration or fixed retention period. They remain stored until we manually delete them. Email us from the phone to have its records removed. |
| Support email | Correspondence you sent us | Support correspondence is stored in Google Workspace. |
Your workout history on this phone
Deleting your account also removes the workout history stored on the phone you delete from. It cannot be recovered afterwards, from the phone or from a cloud backup. If you want to keep your history, use Export in Settings before you delete.
What deleting your account does not do
- It does not change Apple Health. Workouts Spotter saved there stay until you remove them in the Health app. Revoke Spotter's Health access in the Health app or iPhone Settings if you wish.
- It does not yet disconnect Spotter from your Apple ID or Google account on Apple's or Google's side. To finish that yourself:
- Sign in with Apple: open Settings on your iPhone, tap your name, tap Sign in with Apple, choose Spotter, then Stop Using Apple ID.
- Sign in with Google: go to your Google Account, open Security → Your connections to third-party apps & services, choose Spotter and remove access.
Timing
Spotter cloud backups can contain your workout history, including recorded heart-rate and calorie data. These cloud copies are separate from the data stored on your device and in Apple Health. You can delete the cloud copy yourself at any time with Delete cloud backup in Settings → Cloud backup. Deleting your account deletes all of them immediately and permanently.
In-app deletion is synchronous: when the app says your account is deleted, the records above are gone from the live database and your sign-in no longer works. Your cloud backups are gone at the same moment. Only the items in the table above expire on their own schedule. Email requests are handled by a person. When we acknowledge your email request, we will explain any verification needed and give you an expected completion date. We will process the request within applicable legal deadlines, notify you of any permitted extension, and confirm completion or explain any refusal.
